You have moved into your new house and low and behold there are no window coverings. You do need to cover those windows. At the least you need some privacy. Before you choose what type of window covering you want, you need to decide on your color and decorating scheme. Decide if you want a contemporary, classical, or country look. They are found in many colors and price ranges. Roman shades can be installed flush to the inside of the window. They can also be presented supported by a horizontal bar with sconces at the ends. Roman shades can really be presented in a simple manner or with hardware that takes their look up a notch.

Vertical blinds are perhaps the simplest of solutions. They can be really easy and inexpensive and even be used as a temporary solution rather than a permanent one. They can be found in variety of price ranges and materials. Vinyl blinds are the least expensive. You can also get them custom made in wood. Those vinyl blinds can be expensive but give a very nice look. Do remember that with vertical blinds and roman shades that if have children you want to have safety mechanisms that are made to prevent strangulation.

You can also choose to cover your windows with curtains. Curtains are often accompanied by shades. There are many choices in curtains. They come in more than what you might stereotypically assume. The choices of materials can really vary. Curtains can give anywhere from a country to a regal look to a room.

Sometimes it is easy to forget when you are about to move into a house that it might not have window coverings. It only becomes apparent when it becomes night and you know everyone can see in your house. Have fun picking out your window coverings and you will start making this house your home.
